Tips for Being Outgoing When You Have an Introverted Personality

psychology studies

Telling what the difference is between an introvert and an extrovert can be a challenging task. These two types of people are often difficult to tell apart, and one of the main reasons why this is so is the fact that introverts are not easy to recognize. Even if you knew all personality traits that define an introvert, you would have a hard time recognizing one even if they would talk to you, and show you their unique approach to life when trying to win an argument. It takes a lot of time as well as energy to get to know an introverted person.

Can an Introverted Person Be Outgoing?

Many people wrongly believe that an introverted person cannot be outgoing. Introverts are seen as not being sociable, although this does not have to do much with reality. People who have an introverted personality can be very socially active, and have many friends. Moreover, they enjoy spending time with people, but they do not need to be around people to the same extent as people who have an extroverted personality.

Introverted Personality - How to Be Outgoing

Introverted people like socializing with people around them, but they have to put more effort into interacting with the others in order to create friendships and gain new acquaintances than people who are extroverted. Here will be discussed some tips intended to help introverts gain more friends and become more socially active.

Firstly, you need to know that you should try to be more outgoing only if this is what you want. Oftentimes introverts try to fit into their social groups without really enjoying this. Therefore, before trying to fit in with the others, try finding people you are comfortable spending time with, be it introverts or extroverts. After you find friends who you like spending time with, you should try to work on your social skills. This means that you should focus on how to make yourself more approachable. You need to be aware of the fact that introverts seem to be arrogant and rude, so you should put some time into making yourself easier to approach.

Being outgoing does not mean that you should go out every night, but rather learn how to get the best out of socializing with people around you. Moreover, becoming more outgoing does not mean that you will have to forget about spending time alone when you feel like it. Instead, these tips should help you balance these two, and be able to enjoy solitude, but also try to make enough room for other people in your life.

Depression As Genetic and Evolutionary Beneficial

psychology studies

If someone were to ask me about depression, or why it even exists in our society, I would have to state that it is probably has to do with human nature, and in that regard there must be some sort of genetic component, or reason why it came into existence. After all, I highly doubt that people wish to be depressed, or that depressed folks would have had the advantage of survival of the fittest to produce offspring, if feeling bad about yourself was the only reason for it. Okay so, let's talk about this for a moment because apparently there is scientific evidence now which would confirm such thinking.

There was an interesting article on the subject of depression in "Medical News Today" entitled; " Depression: Evolutionary Byproduct Of The Ability To Fight Infection?" The piece describes research done by Emory University and others (a video is available on YouTube). Specifically, these researchers have semi-concluded that inflammation is a key component in depression. They have lots of evidence for this, and it is an interesting finding, although it isn't completely proven as of yet.

Even though, I am one with a perpetual happy attitude, I've always been intrigued by the challenges that folks who are depressed face each and every day. I've noted that people who live in climates without much sunshine have a tendency to be more depressed than others and the suicide rates are higher too.

In my studies, I noted that raising the brain temperature 1-degree seems to cure feelings of depression. This would also correlate to the findings here, elevated temperatures, slightly help in reducing inflammation in the human bio-system, is that correct?

Now that we know this information how can we use it to our vantage? Okay so, how do we induce simulated inflammation to create stress in athletes and war fighters to have them kick-butt on the enemy? And also shouldn't we also then be treating criminals with anti-imflammatories to change behavior? And if we give anti-inflammatories to depressed artists, will we lose the creative side of their manic episodes, thus, losing their creative talents, or can we rather cause a new change in the person, creating a hypomanic superstar of humanity, many thoughts, intriguing.

If you are someone who suffers from depression, and you have noted when you are depressed, and those periods which you were not, I'd sure like to have you send me an e-mail so we can talk about it, and see if your episodes of depression could be explained away by these researchers findings. Indeed I hope you will please consider all this and think on it.

The Meaning of Your Clothes in Dreams

psychology studies

The seriousness of the scientific dream translations and the importance of your dreams are proved by the fact that all mental illnesses can be cured through dream translation. The unconscious mind that produces your dreams works like a psychiatrist and psychologist. This means that the unconscious mind is a font of trustful information.

The unconscious words in dreams seem to be incomprehensible to your eyes because you ignore the unconscious logic, and you ignore the meaning of the most important dream symbols. When you'll learn the dream logic and the meaning of the basic dream symbols, you'll be able to understand the basic meaning of any dream.

The possibility to have lessons directly from the wise unconscious mind is an advantage that surpasses all the advantages you could have in life. The unconscious mind is God's mind. This is a scientific and religious truth that the under-developed modern civilization has to accept.

However, our civilization is atheistic and materialistic. Now that we can easily understand the meaning of dreams and have a direct communication with God through dream translation, the absurd modern civilization will come to an end because it is totally contrary to the truth. The formation of a new civilization will mark the human history.

Of course, this transformation will take time.

If you want to save time and surpass your historical time right now, you have to study the scientific method of dream interpretation for a while, or submit your dreams for a professional dream translation. Dream therapy is a magical solution that is not based on the mindset of the hypocritical world. You enter into contact with God. You learn the bitter truth. Then, you are transformed, and you become really superior; you become a wise human being.

The unconscious mind criticizes your attitude, giving you many clues, and helping you understand your mistakes. The poetical and philosophical dream language speaks to your heart.

I will give you an example, so that you may see how the unconscious mind sends you important messages in dreams. Here is a paragraph of a dream dreamt by a divorced woman:

'I wanted to try on a beautiful dark blue dress, but I didn't dare to try it on because it was so beautiful. Then, the man from work encouraged me to try it on. While I was starting to put the dress on, my ex-mother in law was watching me with disapproval, so I decided not to try the dress on, but promised myself that I would wear the dress no matter what anybody said. I've had several other dreams about this man.'

Dream Translation

'I wanted to try on a beautiful dark blue dress, but I didn't dare to try it on because it was so beautiful.'

The clothes you wear in dreams represent your social image. They represent what you show to the world about yourself.

The blue color represents understanding in dreams. You wanted to seem to be a person who understands how the man you love feels, but you were afraid to do so.

If you would wear the blue dress, then you would show him that you are a comprehensive person. You would show him that you understand his interest and that you are interested on a having a relationship with him too.

However, you are afraid to show him that you understand what is happening between you. You are polite but you are distant, without being friendly.

'Then, the man from work encouraged me to try it on.'

You have to tell me how you characterize this man so that I may understand what part of your personality he represents. He seems to be a positive part of your personality, which understands that you must help the man you love feel confident by showing him that you love him too, and you understand how he feels.

'While I was starting to put the dress on, my ex-mother in law was watching me with disapproval, so I decided not to try the dress on, but promised myself that I would wear the dress no matter what anybody said. I've had several other dreams about this man.'

The mother in dreams represents the wild and primitive side of the human conscience, which is totally absurd. If this was your mother she would represent a negative part of your personality that belongs to your wild side. Your ex-mother-in-law has a similar meaning, with the exception that since she is the mother of your ex-husband, this means that she represents the negative side of your husband's personality.

In other words, you are still afraid to show to another man that you want to have a love relationship with him because you are still afraid of the negative side of your husband's personality. You are afraid to face the same problems again in another relationship.

This is why you don't wear the blue dress that represents comprehension and understanding. You are afraid to show to the man you love that you want to have a relationship with him and you understand how he feels.

The fact that you had many dreams about him indicates that the unconscious mind is giving you information about him in your dreams. He is a very important person for you; he could be your perfect match. Your next dreams will give you more information about him.

The unconscious mind is very generous and it sends us many dreams about the person we love, especially before we have a relationship with them. You can learn many things about the man you love only for translating the meaning of your dreams. You should keep a dream journal and write down all your dreams. This is an important period of time for you.

As you can see, in a simple dream scene the main problem of this dreamer is clearly visible: she is afraid to show to the man she loves that she loves him too because she had traumatic experiences in her first marriage. She is afraid to face similar problems again. So, she doesn't have the self-confident behavior she should have in order to encourage this man to approach her.

This is a part of a long dream, but I'm not allowed to publish the entire dream. I'm only giving you a lesson in order to show you how the unconscious mind opens the dreamer's eyes.

The unconscious mind speaks with images and scenes. This way, it shows many things at the same time to all dreamers.

The same way that the unconscious mind showed to this dreamer that she is not helping the man she loves in any way, the unconscious mind will help you learn how to successfully solve your problems.

Christina Sponias continued Carl Jung's research into the human psyche, discovering the cure for all mental illnesses, and simplifying the scientific method of dream interpretation that teaches you how to exactly translate the meaning of your dreams, so that you can find health, wisdom and happiness.

God: A Logical Counter

psychology studies

God and Psychology

Recently I was discussing God with one of my friends who is of the opinion that people only believe in religion for 'psychological' reasons: i.e. because their parents were religious, because they grew up in an environment of Christianity, or because they were brainwashed by charismatic and rhetorical speakers. He also thought that Christianity naturally promotes racism, hatred and inequality. I however, being Christian myself (Quaker to be more precise) think that this is unfair, and doesn't consider both sides of the argument.

Now, before I begin I must freely confess that both my parents are Christian: I'm not going to try and hide that to make my opinion appear more objective, those reading this may well think 'aha, he himself grew up with it and knew no better,' Believe this if you want, but understand that if you believe we all hold beliefs because of psychological factors, then atheism is also a belief, and therefore subject to psychological explanation. I once knew a man that ardently declared his atheism. When I got to know him better, he revealed that his father had been Catholic, and had beaten him very often in his youth. He tells me I only believe in God because of psychological reasons... Yes, we are all subject to psychological factors which influence decisions, but becoming atheist does not grant immunity from this very basic human condition.

I hope that the arguments I use will be considered objective, logical and rhetorical, because I believe, contrary to much atheist thought, that religion is logical.

Returning to the debate with my friend, his first line of argument was to suggest that Christians promote inequality. My counter is simple: yes, it is true that many 'Christians' have engaged in warfare under religious pretences, and committed atrocities in the name of God. Does this mean they are Christian? No. People who believe we are not equal obviously aren't true Christians. If I told you I was a scientist and never performed a single experiment but rather threw random chemicals together into a pot, would I be a true scientist? No. Similarly rejecting something because it has previously generated negative experiences or events, is not a ground for discarding it. Scientists created the nuclear warhead, not Christians, but do we attack science as being inherently immoral? No. Science has given man the terrifying ability to push a button and instantly destroy thousands, if not millions, of human beings. Yet do we decide to give it a rest? No. We accept it has drawbacks and terrible potential, but it also creates liver-transplant machines and intravenous feeds which save lives. Do we call for the abolishment of politicians because they start wars? No. Human beings can always twist and misuse ideas to their own ends, religion is the same. Just because a body of people have misused to it to, as my friend quite rightly says, promote inequality, sexism, and dictatorship, does not mean that religion as a whole is evil.

True Christianity promotes loving your neighbour as yourself. Jesus marks this out as the most important commandment, because from it all other commandments naturally follow.

In Galatians it says: "...we are all one," therefore people that make arguments against Christianity as promoting inequality:
a) haven't read the Bible
and
b) are obviously unable to separate individual faith based on evidence, understanding, experience and love from organised religion.

His second line of argument was to suggest that though the Bible does have moments where it seems to be promoting morality, at the same it contains "rape, child slavery and sexism" and promotes these alongside it.

Firstly, rape, child slavery and sexism exist in many modern films: that doesn't mean these things are 'promoted'. Does Orwell's 1984 necessarily say that Communism and Oligarchical Collectivism are a good thing? No. The Ten Commandments expressly forbid murder and the disrespect/harm of others and this message is further enforced in the New Testament.

My friend was right about one thing though, yes, the Bible is in part a product of its time. Things were different then, and so naturally approaches to overcoming problems were different. For example: in the Old Testament we see polygamy and incest is accepted in some cases, whereas in the New Testament it is not. Consider then that in the Old Testament the population of the whole earth could be numbered in thousands. Measures were required to ensure the human race survived, but often even then polygamy, or extra marital sex was only as a last resort, for example: if the wife was infertile. Incest was also not necessarily the same thing that it is today, the blood was probably purer and would not lead to deformity, damage, or mutation as it does now. Scientists believe it would have taken eight people to populate the world today (bearing in mind there are eight people on Noah's ark). Out of eight people there is only so much that can be done before inbreeding inevitably occurs. We are all related therefore, however distantly. But coming back to my friend's argument: he is right, the Bible is partly a product of the circumstances in which it was conceived.

But, it also goes beyond this. Just because something is written two thousand (roughly AD 10-30 - The Jesus Papyrus) years ago, it doesn't mean that it is outdated or that its principles become irrelevant. Psychologists use the works of Freud, Jung, and even more ancient philosophers: does their work become irrelevant just because time has passed? No. True, some ideas that were contemporaneous may now be less relevant, but others have become universal truths. Allow me to very simply demonstrate a universal truth from the Bible that anyone can accept, atheist, Christian, or of any denomination or belief. The Garden of Eden is frequently disregarded as being absurd, impossible, and convenient. Here's my theory: The Garden of Eden is a metaphor, and it's a brilliant one at that. It's a metaphor for the human condition that has retained its hold on the imagination since it was written. Human beings are obsessed with what is forbidden. Humans beings are obsessed by knowledge: just look at science: does the unethical nature of their practices stop them pursuing secrets ardently to their culmination? No. And I'm not criticising science here: I follow the science articles in The Week avidly to see what the next discovery will be. We also see everyday that people fall prey to the promise of power, they make deals that they shouldn't, they make choices that they even know they shouldn't: but the power is just too tempting.

It's a metaphor for puberty as well. Children aren't ashamed to be naked and free. They aren't ashamed if they speak what they feel honesty.
"I want a toy!"
"No it's mine!"

They aren't afraid to ball in tears in front of a crowd of people and they never make apologies for being who they are. Then with age comes wisdom, and 'knowledge of good and evil': of embarrassing secrets, of our own bodies. People want to cover themselves up because they're afraid 'I'm not ripped enough' or 'my bum's too big' etc. Knowledge brings shame, alongside the gift of reason and enlightenment.

It's also about a man's obsession with women. People often say that it's sexist because Eve takes the fruit first. That's one way to look at it: but who's the bigger fool, the fool, or the fool who follows? In Paradise Lost Milton paints a picture of Adam as uxorious to the point of self destruction. Adam chooses to take the fruit because he can't live without woman, without Eve. So it's also a story about love. Human love that is so powerful it causes them to defy the divine, and who hasn't felt their love for someone is causing them to fall? That our addiction to someone is almost unhealthy? That is doesn't make sense? Adam gives us paradise for Eve, and isn't that the case of most people: they sacrifice something to continue or further a relationship?

You don't have to believe in God or in the literality of the Garden of Eden story to see that this book is profound, and full of profound teaching. Atheists often cannot understand how someone can turn to the Bible for guidance, as they view it as ignorant, but if you read the Bible you begin to see that there are numerous examples of acute observation of human nature, and of the way the world works. There is a famous line which states someone who commits sin will not only be cursed but for ten generations after their family will be cursed. Is this a harsh punishment from an unjust God (as atheists like to argue) or is it actually an observation that someone prone to behave badly will probably pass this on to their children, who in turn will pass it on to theirs, making it a hard cycle to break from.

Therefore I disagree with the views that the Bible doesn't make sense and is ignorant, which is obviously a stance I'm expected to take. But looking at it from what, to me, is a logical perspective: there's more psychological insight into human beings in that one exceedingly story, than in all of Freud and Dawkins put together.

I apologise if I offended anyone reading this article, unlike aggressive atheism I am perfectly fine with acknowledging many people have differing views from me. I intend no disrespect, and have been motivated to write this counter argument because of the numerous attacks upon my own system of belief: which is one of loving others, caring for others, striving for friends and family, upholding moral principles, and humbling before a being infinitely greater than I am.

Thank you for your time,

Are You a Slave of Your Dangerous Ego?

psychology studies

You are always trying to please your ego, even though its desires are mainly absurd. You need an internal vision of your brain and psyche and many behavioral lessons in order to understand that your adored ego is in fact very dangerous. The unconscious mind produces your dreams in order to give you the vision you need, so that you may understand your reality.

Your ego is in fact your worst enemy.

Your ego controls your behavior when you have a strong human conscience. It is the central component of your personality. However, your personality is composed by numerous other parts. Your ego is only one important part of yourself. Your ego should be your best friend because it is the center of your human conscience.

However, your human conscience is one-sided and under-developed. It works based on only one psychological function and it has an attitude introverted or extroverted. Thus, your poor human conscience is idiotic. You must develop your human conscience by acquiring consciousness. This means that you must discover the existence of numerous different components of your personality, which you don't know, but belong to your personality.

Your psychological functions are: thoughts, feelings, sensations, and intuition. Only one of these four functions is completely developed in your human conscience. Another one is half-developed. However, the half-developed one cannot be totally opposite to your main psychological function.

Therefore, if your main psychological type (introverted or extroverted) is based on thoughts, your second half-developed psychological function cannot be your feelings, which are totally opposite of thoughts. The same way, if you belong to a psychological type based on feelings, your second half-developed psychological function cannot be your thoughts.

So, if you belong to a psychological type based on thoughts or based on feelings, your second half-developed psychological function can be your sensations, or your intuition.

If you belong to a psychological type based on sensations, your second half-developed psychological function cannot be your intuition, which is totally opposite from your sensations. The same way, if your main psychological function is intuition, your second half-developed psychological function cannot be based on sensations.

Therefore, if you belong to a psychological type based on sensations or intuition, your second half-developed psychological function will be based on thoughts or feelings.

The psychological functions that are not working in your human conscience, are working in your wild conscience, the anti-conscience, which is your animal personality. The anti-conscience is an evil animal like a shark. However, it can think and prepare many logical traps for your conscience.

Since you are idiotic because you work based on only one psychological function and you somehow use another psychological function only sometimes when you try to solve your problems, you are an easy victim for your terrible anti-conscience. It uses many tricks in order to imprison your conscience into the labyrinth of craziness.

Your anti-conscience is constantly trying to make you accept doing what is bad, showing you that this way you'll have many advantages. This is a trick. The anti-conscience pretends to be your helper, while it is in fact a murderer. It wants to kill your human conscience through craziness, and control your behavior in the place of your ego.

Your idiotic ego easily believes in the false promises of your anti-conscience, which pretends to be yourself.

Your anti-conscience gives you a second, wild personality, composed by many absurd tendencies. When your ego follows the absurd ideas of your anti-conscience, accepting its suggestions as if they could help you achieve your goals, you gradually lose your mind. This means that you become crazy, without understanding what is happening to you.

You cannot perceive your own absurdity. This way, your anti-conscience manages to generate a mental illness within your conscience, while you believe that you are a 'normal' person.

The absurd components of your personality keep pressuring your ego and demanding a superior position for its image. Your ego is an idol, or better saying, a puppet manipulated by your evil anti-conscience.

If you want to find safe freedom on Earth, you must get rid of your absurd ego and learn how to be humble, without letting your anti-conscience use your ego to destroy your human conscience. Humbleness means wisdom and balance. Your ego is merely a false idol.

Your personality must be controlled by the unconscious wisdom, and not by your evil anti-conscience, or by your one-sided and under-developed human conscience. When you'll manage to transform your anti-conscience into a positive component of your conscience through consciousness, you'll be able to make your decisions alone, without depending on the unconscious guidance. You'll become wise.

However, until you'll manage to completely develop all your psychological functions through dream therapy, you must eliminate your dangerous ego and obey the unconscious guidance. If you keep making mistakes because you are lazy and you don't think about the consequences of your actions you cannot be cured from a mental illness, or prevent a mental disorder.

Christina Sponias continued Carl Jung's research into the human psyche, discovering the cure for all mental illnesses, and simplifying the scientific method of dream interpretation that teaches you how to exactly translate the meaning of your dreams, so that you can find health, wisdom and happiness.

The Psychotherapy of The Unconscious Mind and Extroverted Psychological Types

psychology studies

Carl Jung discovered that all human beings belong to a certain psychological type, which is defined by an introverted or extroverted attitude. Each psychological type works based on only one psychological function completely developed, and on another one half-developed.

Our four psychological functions are: thoughts, feelings, sensations, and intuition.

All psychological types are absurd and must be corrected. They must develop both attitudes; introverted and extroverted. They also have to learn how use their four psychological functions at the same time.

Extroverted types are very superficial and materialistic. They don't easily become mentally ill like the introverted psychological types, but they are ridiculously materialistic in all matters. They cannot understand that there is also a spiritual reality, and that there are more important issues in life than the material ones.

Extroverted psychological types based on feelings simply follow the opinion of the world. They are people without a clear personality. They are unable to make logical conclusions independently of their feelings.

Extroverted types based on thoughts are true guardians of the laws already pre-established by the knowledge of the world.

You simply have to agree with them because there is no way you may ever make them agree with you. In case you have a different opinion, a different knowledge, or another vision of the world, you have no chances to ever convince someone who belongs to the extroverted psychological type based on thoughts that you could be right and he/she could be wrong.

The extroverted psychological type based on sensations is a predominant one in our world. Those who belong to this psychological type care only about having material pleasures. They are immoral and indifferent.

Their indifference to justice is disgusting. They are unable to understand the meaning of spirituality or abstraction. Everything for them has a material and obvious explanation. Those who belong to this psychological type rule our world, along with those who belong to the extroverted psychological type based on thoughts.

The extroverted psychological type based on intuition is a constant pursuer of new opportunities. Those who belong to this psychological type cannot work long in the same project. They have to constantly look for something else.

This is why they don't reap the benefits they could have from their initial effort. For example, they build a successful new business, but they have no patience to keep working on it. They are always looking for better opportunities, and never developing their initial projects.

Those who are extroverted seem to be balanced according to the judgment of the absurd modern civilization, which works based on selfishness. However, the truth is that extroverts are too far from sound mental health.

The fact that they don't become neurotic as easier as those who are introverts doesn't mean that they are more balanced. It means that they their immune system is more resistant to craziness than the immune system of the introverted types.

However, since everyone inherits craziness in their brain, as I could discover after continuing Carl Jung's research, all psychological types are absurd. In a few words, everyone needs psychotherapy. This is why the divine unconscious mind that produces our dreams and possesses undoubtable wisdom sends us information and guidance in our dreams.

If you want to acquire sound mental health and also protect the mental health of those who are around you, you must pass through a process of psychotherapy through dream translation. You only have to write down your dreams in a dream journal and translate their meaning according to the scientific method of dream interpretation. Carl Jung discovered the only right method of dream interpretation as I prove with my work, and I simplified his method for you.

Now you can understand how to triumph over life's challenges without making mistakes and suffering. The unconscious guidance in your own dreams will help you understand how to successfully transform your personality and achieve your goals. The unconscious psychotherapy is safe because it is based on sanctity. You are cured by eliminating your wild nature and learning how to be wise.

Christina Sponias continued Carl Jung's research into the human psyche, discovering the cure for all mental illnesses, and simplifying the scientific method of dream interpretation that teaches you how to exactly translate the meaning of your dreams, so that you can find health, wisdom and happiness.

Information About All Matters in Dreams

psychology studies

The unconscious mind that produces your dreams works like a psychotherapist, and also like a spiritual guide. Your psychological transformation through dream therapy is also a spiritual purification.

The unconscious mind gives you true information about all matters in order to help you preserve your mental stability. You also have trustful information in order to understand your reality or predict your future.

For example, when you have dreams about traveling in a ship, this means that you have to pass through a long period of studies and research. A dream about traveling by ship is preparing you for a long journey. You have a lot to learn.

The meaning of the trip by airplane is totally different. It doesn't mean that you will faster attain your goals. When you are traveling by plane in dreams this means that you have attained a higher level of knowledge, after abandoning your old ideas. The airplane reflects your psychological evolution.

You have to learn the meaning of the most important dream symbols in order to translate the meaning of dreams. These symbols were discovered by Carl Jung and by me, who continued his research and completed his mission. You also have to learn the dream logic.

After learning the basic lessons about the meaning of dreams and about how to use this knowledge in your daily life, you will have a powerful tool guiding you all the time. Your own dreams will give you fresh and trustful information about everything that is important for you.

Through dream translation you will learn how to deal with life. The unconscious mind will prepare you to face all life challenges with wisdom and at the same time, positively transform your personality.

This means that your dreams are more important than the false news you read in newspapers. All dreams contain important messages that protect your peace of mind and your mental health.

The unconscious lessons help you achieve your goals based on the laws that predetermine the functioning of our planet. You have to learn how to find solutions based on real situations. This is why the unconscious mind shows you many truths you ignore in dream messages.

Therefore, even though most people believe that dreams are unimportant and that you must make your decisions based on your conscience, the truth is the opposite. The unconscious mind possesses undoubtable wisdom, while you are an under-developed primate who is constantly influenced by your wild nature. Your dreams are more important than your ignorant conclusions.

You need guidance if you want to avoid repeating common mistakes made by the human race. You need information about everything that you ignore.

If you want to really understand the meaning of life, you must be humble and admit your ignorance.

If you are proud of yourself and you believe that you already know the most important aspects of the human life, you are very far from wisdom. I advise you to study the dream language for a while. I greatly simplified the complicated method of dream interpretation discovered by Carl Jung, clarifying all the obscure points in his work.

You will be surprised with all the knowledge you'll acquire thanks to dream translation. You will understand that this knowledge is real because it will fit with various aspects of your reality. You will observe that the unconscious mind knows things about you that you have never told anyone, even to your best friends. Thus, you will be convinced of the fact that your dreams really show you everything you need to know about all matters.

Christina Sponias continued Carl Jung's research into the human psyche, discovering the cure for all mental illnesses, and simplifying the scientific method of dream interpretation that teaches you how to exactly translate the meaning of your dreams, so that you can find health, wisdom and happiness.

Is Violence Really Declining?

psychology studies

Our daily newspapers continually carry stories of wars in distant lands: we read of armed conflicts in Afghanistan, Colombia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen. We are reminded of ongoing struggles in Israel and the Congo and hear about the effects of the Mexican drug war. At home we hear about murders, abductions, domestic violence, break-ins and muggings. Surely we live a most dangerous age. But Stephen Pinker would beg to differ.

In his recent book, The Better Angels of Our Nature: Why Violence Has Declined. (New York: Viking, 2011), Pinker insists that we take a longer view, and in many cases a much longer view. Much as we may deplore the amount of violence in our contemporary world, in ages past the situation was far, far worse.

We think about the number of contemporary wars because they are constantly brought to our attention on radio, television and newspapers. But to measure current violence against that of earlier ages we need to compare actual numbers. When we examine the number of conflicts in Europe over a 600-year period, the duration and frequency of wars in Europe over a 500-year period, as well as the number of deaths brought about by those wars, the number of territorial wars resulting in the redistribution of land: all of these cases show an overall decline.

What about personal violence? Once again, a study of the numbers tells the story. When we look at homicide rates in England over an 800-year period, homicide rates in the northeastern United States (for which records exist over a long period), or rape and homicide rates in the United States over all over a recent 30-year period: all of these numbers show a decline.

Similar trends can be observed in the way society as a whole treats individuals. We see an overall decline in number of executions in the U.S., the number of lynchings, and instances of corporal punishment. The approval of spanking has also gone down. Acceptance of segregation, intolerance of interracial marriage, intolerance of homosexuality all show reductions.

One may inquire why these changes have come about. Historical forces have had major impact on our behavior: we no longer tolerate bear-baiting or public hangings; the process of globalization has enabled us to take the perspective of peoples unlike ourselves and expand our circle of sympathy to embrace them.

Pinker also points out changes in our human psychology over the ages that have extended our sense of empathy from family to tribe to nation and eventually to all humans. Our moral sense has expanded in ways that lead us away from violence and toward cooperation.

No one would portray the current world as utopian, but a long historical view reveals trends away from violence and toward altruism.

Three Steps to a Perfect Dream Interpretation

psychology studies

Carl Jung couldn't clearly and immediately translate the meaning of dreams, even though he discovered the right method for a perfect dream interpretation. Thanks to his discoveries we can understand the wise unconscious guidance in the dream images. However, his work is obscure and incomplete.

I could simplify the dream interpretation process mainly because I discovered that we can completely trust the unconscious mind that produces our dreams due to its saintly nature. Thanks to my obedience to the unconscious mind, I could discover the existence of our wild conscience (anti-conscience) that generates mental illnesses within our conscience. Therefore, I understood exactly why we dream, while Jung couldn't understand the real importance of the unconscious psychotherapy.

The unconscious mind works like a psychiatrist and psychologist because we have inherited too much absurdity into the biggest part of our brain. Our animal and absurd anti-conscience keeps trying to destroy our human conscience and control our behavior.

Since I could discover this basic truth, I could clarify Carl Jung's method and help you immediately understand the meaning of dreams. Now you don't need to wait for more information in your next dreams, the same way that you don't need to compare this dream to your previous dreams like Jung used to do. You can instantly understand the meaning of any dream without analyzing other dreams of the same dreamer.

* I discovered that we can easily translate a series of dreams if we'll translate only the meaning of the most important dream symbols that appear in each dream, and we'll relate this information to the dreamer's life.

I also discovered that long dreams without many dream symbols can be translated into only a few words, while the translation of short dreams with many dream symbols is quite long.

I understood that I had to define the meaning of the most important dream symbols in a few words, since they are so important for the comprehension of the meaning of a dream. Carl Jung wrote many pages about the meaning of each important dream symbol.

This was a big complication. If I had to tell an entire story in order to explain the meaning of just one dream symbol to a dreamer, what would happen with the rest of the dream? When would we have time to talk about the importance of this dream in the dreamer's life?

Thus, I simplified the definition of each dream symbol, besides discovering the meaning of numerous dream symbols that Jung couldn't understand. I learned how to make fast dream translations without paying attention to all the details of each dream because I had to translate many dreams for the same dreamer in a short period of time.

However, many times the details of each dream are revealing. These details are very important. Thus, I had to find a way to easily identify the important details of a dream, besides translating the meaning of the dream symbols.

I discovered that the important details of each dream are the ones that appear in many dreams, in similar forms.

I will give you a real example by analyzing three dream scenes from a series of dreams of one of my patients.

In one dream the dreamer was very sleepy; she hardly could open her eyes.

In the next dream the dreamer was afraid of darkness.

In the third dream, a part of her personality was blind (The dreamer dreamt that she was helping a blind girl walk. This blind girl was a part of her personality that was not able to see many things).

Therefore, the fact that the dreamer cannot see her reality is a detail that appears in three dreams, in a different form. This is an important detail.

Here is the meaning of each dream image:

Being sleepy = She was not fighting her absurd anti-conscience; she was resting accommodated instead of paying attention to the dangerous truth. Her anti-conscience was taking advantage of her indifference and destroying her human conscience while she was resting.

Being in the dark = There are many things that the dreamer ignores about herself and her reality.

Since this dreamer was afraid of darkness in the dream, this means that she was afraid of the truth she ignores about herself and her reality. This truth has a painful effect on her psyche.

Being blind = She was not seeing many things. She was acting without understanding what she was doing.

The dreamer of my example is neurotic, but I cannot give you more details about her case. I'm only using the dream images that appeared in her dreams in order to give you a practical lesson.

Therefore, when you'll perceive that a certain detail repeatedly appears in your dreams, this means that this detail is very important, even though it is not a dream symbol.

* After understanding the importance of certain details I made a research about this matter, looking for all the important details found in each series of dreams of the same dreamers. I discovered that the important details in a dream are the ones that indicate danger.

This information should help you in your dream translations. You can easily translate the meaning of your dreams if you'll learn the meaning of the most important dream symbols and you pay attention to the important details of a dream.

However, you must also follow the dream logic. This is a very complicated matter that I could clearly understand only after fighting craziness and winning the battle thanks to the unconscious guidance.

The anti-conscience uses craziness in order to destroy our human conscience. Craziness is evilness, but in a camouflaged form. The unconscious mind tries to help us preserve our sanity and show resistance to our anti-conscience's attacks with a logic based on sanctity. This comprehension helped me understand what to look for when translating the meaning of dreams.

The fight between our evil anti-conscience and our human conscience (which needs the guidance of the saintly unconscious mind) is the fight between Satan and the human being. This is why most dreams present dangerous situations to the dreamers, they are nightmares, or they are bad dreams not as scary as nightmares, but that make the dreamer feel uncomfortable and sad.

* The unconscious words are the words of a spiritual guide for our human conscience. When we fight absurdity, we are basically fighting evilness.

This knowledge helps you directly understand the unconscious intention when you look at a dream. Therefore, you don't waste your time with suppositions that are far from the truth.

Christina Sponias continued Carl Jung's research into the human psyche, discovering the cure for all mental illnesses, and simplifying the scientific method of dream interpretation that teaches you how to exactly translate the meaning of your dreams, so that you can find health, wisdom and happiness.

Practical Counselling: Focus on Fixing the Broken

psychology studies

Although all of the 'Schools of Psychological Thought' grew out of a wish to understand how the human mind and emotions work and, whilst some shared common threads (for example, the Humanistic and Transpersonal schools have a number of common themes related to belief in the concept of a true and authentic self) they mostly focused on helping individuals deal with psychological problems.

When people enter therapy they do not do so because they feel happy with life. People normally seek out a therapist because they are experiencing emotional or psychological issues that are causing some kind of problem in everyday life - for example, not being able to form relationships, lacking confidence or finding that painful past experiences are stopping them achieving their goals or ambitions. In this sense, psychological therapies and the schools of thought they originate from are aimed at fixing a problem.

Much emphasis is now placed on what is called 'evidence based practice' which simply means that therapies are called upon to evidence the fact that they work. It is now common, in some countries more than others, to provide a 'diagnosis' relating to the type of distress a client presents with. For example, someone involved in a road traffic accident finds that following this they cannot drive their car, experiences panic attacks and become depressed and is then diagnosed as suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Alternatively, someone who cannot stop crying feels there is no point to life, cannot face food and feels tired all the time may be diagnosed with Depression.

These 'labels' are commonly used to describe many types of emotional suffering. Some of the therapies resist these kinds of diagnosis as they believe that they label an individual in an unhelpful manner whilst others welcome them and model their interventions around them.

Mental Health is a growing area of concern in many countries and specialist Psychiatric Manuals are used to list a range of symptoms associated with a particular condition. The concepts of capturing diagnostic criteria to assist practitioners identify psychological problems date back as far as the early 1700's. Referrals for therapy from doctors and psychiatrists will usually be made to a therapist containing a diagnosis of one sort or another based on these two well known and globally used manuals. The success of the therapy is measured in terms of whether the individual recovers from whatever condition has been diagnosed.

Many health care systems now use evidence based practice as the criteria for recommending and funding a particular type of therapy for a particular type of psychological problem.

And now I'd like to invite you to claim your free E-Course "How to Develop your Counselling Practice" available at http://www.counsellingpracticematters.com/

Are We An Empathic Civilization?

psychology studies

The story of civilization can be told in a number of ways. An economic history of mankind treats human interaction in terms of commercial transactions. A military history focuses on wars and battles won and lost, and their causes and consequences. One can undertake a history of culture, beginning perhaps with the earliest cave paintings. Political histories focus on aggregates ranging from city-states to nations.

We tend to use the word "empathy" to describe the capacity of an individual person so to identify with the situation of another as almost to share that person's feelings. We are less accustomed to use the word in a context beyond the individual and the personal.

Yet Jeremy Rifkin uses the word in a much broader perspective in The Empathic Civilization: The Race to Global Consciousness in a World in Crisis (New York: Jeremy P. Tarcher, 2009, 674 pp.) You have probably never seen a history book like this. Rifkin traces the story from the dawn of civilization to the present, but from an unfamiliar point of view. The author writes, "Much of history that is written is about the pathology of power. The everyday world is quite different, lived out in hundreds of small acts of kindness and generosity."

Rifkin's book covers familiar territory-the gathering of human beings into ever larger groups; the importance of agriculture; the Roman Empire; life in the Middle Ages; feudalism, humanism, the Enlightenment, and so forth. But in examining civilization, era by era, he calls attention to information we probably haven't encountered before. Around the fourth century, for example, the Roman Empire came to view the hitherto common practice of infanticide as murder, and outlawed it. The Renaissance invented the idea of companionate marriage, a relationship that we take for granted but which had not existed up to that point. Physical affection toward children became common only in the Enlightenment. The notion of self-fulfillment did not exist before the Romantic era. The nineteenth century saw the outlawing of the slave trade, which had been accepted practice in previous times.

Rifkin places into historical context a number of phenomena that have contributed to our greater connectivity as a species: global travel, the domination of the English language, the use of resources to materially improve quality of life, the trend toward gender equality, the new view of other species as having inherent worth beyond their utility for human beings.

The extension of empathy, however, has come at great cost. Every advance in transportation and communication tending to unify humanity has demanded every greater expenditures of natural resources. "We have now colonized virtually every square inch of the planet and established the scaffolding for a truly global civilization that is connecting the human race in a single embrace, but at the expense of an entropic bill that is threatening our extinction."

Whether the extension of empathy to include all peoples and all species arrives before a cataclysm produced by the reckless consumption of resources remains to be seen.

What Is Forensic Psychology

psychology studies

When people are asked" what is forensic psychology?", they usually think of the criminal profilers seen on movies and television shows, when this is only a fraction of what happens in reality. In its most basic definition, forensic psychology is the application of the psychology practice within the law and the legal system. The word "forensic" originated from the Latin word "forensis" which means "of the forum" referring to the Imperial court in ancient Rome. This relatively new specialized branch of psychology was only given official recognition by the American Psychological Association in 2001.

The portrayal of forensic psychology in popular shows, books and movies caused a surge of interest in the field, especially for the past few years. However, these are glamorized depictions of the profession and are not entirely accurate. The people who practice forensic psychology aren't strictly "forensic psychologists." They could also be clinical psychologists or child psychologists, but their expertise or knowledge might be required to provide assessment, testimony and recommendations in legal cases. Some of their roles include determining an individual's competency to stand trial, mental health assessment in insanity plea cases, and specialized forensic assessment of an individual's personality. For instance, a clinical psychologist might be asked to assess the mental health of a suspect or a child psychologist will be asked to evaluate children subjected to abuse or prepare them for court testimony in criminal or child custody cases.

Forensic psychologists work in jails, police departments, law firms, rehabilitation centers or government agencies and deal directly with lawyers, defendants, victims, families or patients within these institutions. Their responsibilities within correctional institutions involve regular psychological assessments, individual and group therapy sessions, anger or crisis management and other court-ordered evaluations. The work of forensic psychology also includes working with the police departments, to evaluate law enforcement personnel and provide training on criminal profiling and other relevant courses. There are also those who prefer academic pursuits in universities to do further research on criminology, law and the human behavior. Analyzing crime trends, criminal profiling and effective mental health treatments are some of the topics covered by forensic psychology.

What separates this branch from other fields like clinical psychology is that forensic psychology is limited to specific duties in every individual case, such as providing advice on the suspect's mental capacity to face charges. Learning the answers to "what is forensic psychology?" means dealing with individuals who are getting evaluation and treatment not by choice, unlike in the usual clinical setting where clients volunteer to seek help.

They are also called to provide expert testimony but they must be knowledgeable enough of the legal system to be called as a credible witness for the case. Majority of their role is preparing and delivering their testimony and translating it to legal terms, which has been more challenging since lawyers know how to undermine or discredit psychological opinions. There have been cases of malingering or feigning illnesses so psychologists should know how to recognize the real symptoms as well as evaluate the consistency of information across different sources. A great part of understanding the answer to "what is forensic psychology" means being able to explain or reformulate psychological terms or principles within a legal framework.

Dreams About A Ship and An Anchor

psychology studies

The anchor is a rare dream symbol, which appears in a dream only when the dreamer follows dream therapy for a certain period of time. The anchor has two different meanings depending on the dream story.

The ship in dreams represents a long journey of studies and preparation.

The sea represents craziness. There are numerous invisible dangers hidden in the vast ocean, the same way that there are numerous invisible dangers hidden into your anti-conscience.

Your anti-conscience is your primitive conscience, which didn't evolve like your human conscience. It occupies the biggest part of your brain the same way that the sea occupies the biggest part of our planet. You ignore how dangerous the anti-conscience's content is, the same way you ignore how many dangers are hidden into the dark region of the sea.

When the anchor is near the beach it has two different meanings in a dream. It represents salvation when you have arrived from a long trip. It also represents safety because the anchor doesn't let you get lost in the ocean. In other words, the safety given to you by the protection of an anchor represents your salvation from craziness. Therefore, when you'll see an anchor in a dream after making a long research about an important matter, the anchor has a positive meaning.

It means that now you know that you are absurd and that you must tame your anti-conscience. You are not indifferent to its existence.

You are the human being concentrated into the human side of your conscience. You have to tame your huge anti-conscience and transform it into a human being by obeying the unconscious guidance in your dreams.

A dream about an anchor before your journey of self-discovery through dream interpretation indicates that you are not accepting your mission. The anchor is holding you at the beach. You have to travel.

You have a lot to discover about yourself. The anti-conscience is your evil, immoral, violent, absurd, cruel, and indifferent personality. It has an animal and dangerous nature. Your anti-conscience is your worst self. Carl Jung named it 'shadow' when he discovered the existence of a negative content inside the human psyche.

I changed the description of this negative content because I continued Jung's research, discovering that the anti-conscience that is our huge wild conscience, which is still alive in our brain. It is a lot more than merely a shadow.

Our anti-conscience works against our conscience. It is constantly trying to destroy our human conscience and imprison us, the human beings concentrated into the human side of our conscience, into the labyrinth of craziness.

The word 'anti' in Greek means against, contrary. I used this definition because my description is psychiatric. The anti-conscience is our satanic conscience, which is schizophrenic because it couldn't find peace. It refuses learning and changing its behavior. This is why it remains in a demoniac condition, without any evolution.

You, the human being concentrated into your human conscience must oblige this monster to change its behavior.

You live in order to transform the satanic content you have inherited into your brain into a positive content that will respect human rules. This is how you'll get rid of all mental illnesses and physical diseases, you'll find sound mental health, peace and happiness, and you'll help the world find salvation with your work and your example.

You have to accept learning the truth and you have to accept transforming your personality.

The anchor can be a positive dream symbol only if you'll accept the challenge and study the human mind through dream translation. You must face craziness and fight the demon. You cannot be a passive observer of the destruction of your human conscience by your wild side.

You should follow dream therapy. The unconscious mind will show you the way out of this situation. The unconscious mind that produces your dreams has a divine origin and works like a psychotherapist and spiritual guide. This means that you are protected by the unconscious sanctity. In other words, you can completely trust the dream messages.

You must learn what exists inside you and fight all the absurdity you have inherited before being a victim of your terrible anti-conscience. Don't refuse to make a long journey inside your psyche and discover who you really are.

You'll understand if the anchor has a positive or negative meaning if the anchor will appear before or after the ship in a dream. When the anchor appears before the ship, it has a negative meaning. It means that you refuse to pass through a process of transformation. You don't want to learn anything and tame your wild side.

You are irresponsible and inconsequential. You must make this trip because it is your salvation from despair.

If you'll have a dream about an anchor after having a dream (or a series of dreams) about the ship, the anchor has a positive meaning. For now on your life will be totally different. Now you know how to control your behavior.

However, if the anchor will appear in a dream while you are in an island and your ship or boat is near the beach, this means that you are in a dangerous position. If the anchor will appear in the middle of the ocean it indicates great danger because you are never protected in the sea. Remember that the sea means craziness. The sea always has a negative meaning in dreams.

The anchor can be a positive dream symbol only if you'll carefully analyze the content of your psyche and transform your personality before having a dream about it. The anchor has a positive meaning when it represents the end of your long studies about a certain matter; which is always related to your evolution.

Christina Sponias continued Carl Jung's research into the human psyche, discovering the cure for all mental illnesses, and simplifying the scientific method of dream interpretation that teaches you how to exactly translate the meaning of your dreams, so that you can find health, wisdom and happiness.

Why Did You Have a Nightmare? Find Out The Truth

psychology studies

Nightmares are serious alarms that help you prevent sad situations or tragic events. If you had a nightmare, you must find out which mistake you are making and stop doing what could have a negative consequence. The unconscious mind helps you understand the truth and correct your mistakes.

Write down all your dreams in a dream journal and translate their meaning according to the scientific method of dream interpretation. The unconscious mind sends you dreams with explanations and solutions for your problems, the same way it sends you nightmares in order to open your eyes.

I can translate your dreams for you if you cannot study the dream language, even though I greatly simplified Carl Jung's method of dream interpretation. You can also become a professional dream translator by following my steps.

The scientific translations help you understand why you are in a dangerous situation and what you have to do in order to be safe. For example, if you have a nightmare about falling down very fast in an elevator this means that your actions are putting your mental stability in great danger.

Perhaps you have relationships with dishonest people, or you are accepting the absurdity of your wild tendencies. Therefore, you are going too fast to the region of the anti-conscience, which is your wild conscience that didn't evolve like your human conscience.

Going down by elevator in dreams indicates great danger, even when you are not going down too fast. Your absurd anti-conscience is at the bottom of your psyche and will imprison your ego into the labyrinth of craziness when you'll suddenly arrive there. You must go down very carefully in dreams; always by stairs and never by elevator.

Whenever you have dreams about going down by elevator this always means that you are in a dangerous situation.

If you are going up by elevator, this fact also has a negative meaning in dreams, even though going up is not as dangerous as going down. When you go up by elevator in a dream this means that the content of the bottom of your psyche goes to the surface of your conscience very fast. This means that this absurd content will unexpectedly control your behavior.

When you dream about people chasing you everywhere and various dangerous situations from which you have to escape, this means that you are running from your absurd anti-conscience, and trying to avoid its absurdity. Your anti-conscience is constantly attacking your human conscience.

You represent your ego in dreams. Your ego controls your behavior and is the center of your human conscience. It is an important component of your personality, but it is only a part. Many other components of your personality are influencing your behavior all the time.

The negative components of your personality that are not conscious and belong to your anti-conscience appear as enemies chasing you in your dreams. These parts of your personality are trying to take the place of your ego and control your behavior.

Dreams about a spider indicate that you must take action before having to face serious problems. If you won't do something now, you'll regret not having done something to change your destiny when you had the chance to prevent various negative consequences.

All nightmares are warnings. You must stop doing what is bad for you, or you have to do something important that you want to avoid. Many times you do what is dangerous and will put you in trouble because you listen to the absurd suggestions of your anti-conscience. Other times you have idiotic reactions before dangerous situations because you don't pay attention to the bad possibilities that are threatening your future.

A nightmare always shows you what your sneaky anti-conscience is doing against your human conscience to help you prevent a tragic situation that will put your mental health in great danger. It also shows you the bad intentions of those who are around you and many other invisible dangers.

This means that your nightmares naturally protect your safety. They help you understand that there is something wrong in your psychological system or in your daily life. You have to pay attention to their importance instead of thinking that 'dreams are just dreams'. All dreams contain very important messages that save your life.

Christina Sponias continued Carl Jung's research into the human psyche, discovering the cure for all mental illnesses, and simplifying the scientific method of dream interpretation that teaches you how to accurately translate the meaning of your dreams, so that you can find health, wisdom and happiness.

Job Outlook For Social Workers

psychology studies

Most areas of social work employment are predicted to increase significantly over the next five to seven years. Some geographical considerations also impact job projections. Current estimates are that for the years between 2008 and 2018 the field will enjoy a 16% expansion of employment. This expansion is considerably higher than that of most other occupations.

Growing Population Of The Elderly

The job outlook for social workers entering the field of gerontological social work is especially good since the population of aging baby boomers will mean a larger demand for social services and health related care. Both public and private demand for social workers dedicated to this population will increase as the population needing this service expands.

Mental Health And Substance Abuse

One of the largest areas of growth in the social work field is predicted to be in the area of mental health and substance abuse. Experts are predicting nearly a 20% expansion of employment in this area of social work. Workers choosing this specialty will see employment opportunities in correctional facilities and in treatment of those released from correctional facilities as conditions of either parole or probation. Private treatment programs are also forecast to see a significant upswing in employment.

Child And Family

Experts predict around a 12% increase in social work positions involving child, home and family services. These workers investigate child abuse cases and are tasked with keeping children safe and placing them in protective and foster care among other duties. Keep in mind, however, that these positions are almost exclusively government funded. A precarious economy and lack of funding could change this prediction of expanded growth.

Public Health And Medical

The job outlook for social workers in the field of medical and public health is excellent. An estimated 22% increase is expected. This area dovetails into the realm of the gerontological social workers since medical and health care services for the aging baby-boomer population is expected to increase dramatically. Both public and private sectors should show significant growth. Private and partially publicly funded assisted-living centers and senior communities will allow for ample employment in the years to come.

Geography

Although a healthy expansion of the social work market is expected, some areas will offer more opportunity than others. The job outlook for social workers in rural areas will be the highest due to lack of competition and the unavailability of training centers that are more common to high density urban areas.

Conclusion

Prospects look particularly good in the field of social work in the near future. All areas are predicted to expand so it's a safe bet heading into this field. Geographical areas and possible public funding cuts are wild cards to keep an eye on.

What Are Dissociative Disorders?

psychology studies

A dissociative disorder can manifest itself in many different ways, but is most often seen as an individual's interruption or dissociation with the routine of waking consciousness. Someone who suffers from this type of disorder may lose sight of his or her own identity and personal history, which in the most extreme cases was once known as "multiple personality disorder." People with dissociative disorders have typically gone through a trauma in their life that sparked the sudden and intermittent loss of identity or history. The brain may dissociate from reality as a coping mechanism to avoid integrating the memory of that experience with the person's conscious identity.

Symptoms of Dissociative Disorders

One very distinct type of dissociative disorder is dissociative amnesia, in which the brain blocks out specific information or memories, typically when an acutely traumatic event has occurred. It can be localized, in which case the individual has no recollection of the stressful event for a stretch of time, such as a person who doesn't remember a car accident until several days later. It can also be selective, in which case the individual doesn't recall certain events that took place during a given time period but remembers other events from the same time period. For example, a person who was abused may not remember the actual trauma but will recall the rest of his or her life from that time. It may be systemized, as well, in which case the individual loses all the information from a certain category, such as the memories of one friend, relative or partner. Dissociative amnesia can also be generalized, in which case the individual fails to recall his or her whole life.

Other types of dissociative disorder include dissociative fugue, which is a rare variety in which the individual suddenly becomes confused about his or her identity and takes off on a long journey. Depersonalization disorder is another variety, which manifests itself when the individual feels detached from his or her body, experiences and sense of self. And then there is dissociative identity disorder, which is sometimes called multiple personality disorder, and is marked by distinct identities that appear regularly.

Treatment

The symptoms of dissociative disorders may be similar to those of obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder or other types of mental illness, but there are certain traits that make this type of disorder unique. The treatments, however, may sometimes be similar. The individual who is experiencing dissociative disorder will typically need psychotherapy and/or a combination of prescription drugs and psychosocial treatment.

Dream Interpretation - The Meaning of Digging in Dreams

psychology studies

The unconscious mind that produces your dreams helps you understand how your brain works and how you can find sound mental health. Through dream translation you will observe that you have to constantly fight your anti-conscience, which is the wild side of your conscience that remains in a primitive condition. Unfortunately, your anti-conscience keeps bothering your evolution all the time.

You have to eliminate your wild conscience through dream therapy and get rid of your worst enemy. This way, you won't need to fight the absurdity imposed by your anti-conscience all the time.

You will find sound mental health when you will manage to acquire consciousness of the components of your brain and psyche that belong to your anti-conscience. The unconscious mind helps you acquire total consciousness through dream messages, reflecting your psychological condition.

I will give you an example by publishing a few sentences of a dream dreamt by a 20-30-years-old woman and my translations:

'I am in the house where I was living several years ago. There is a really big machine outside my home which is in the shape of a cone. It is digging the ground.'

Dream Translation:

'I am in the house where I was living several years ago.'

The house in dreams represents your psyche. Since this was the house where you used to live in the past, this dream is showing you that your psyche is still influenced by your past. This is why you have the same behavior you used to have in the past.

'There is a really big machine outside my home which is in the shape of a cone.'

This big machine represents your mechanical reactions. Everyone inherits various behavioral programs in their cognitive mechanism. These behavioral programs start working automatically depending on the stimuli of your environment.

Your cognitive mechanism is the mechanism that helps you understand your reality and react before various stimuli.

For example, when you are in danger, you automatically start running away from what is causing fear. This reaction is the result of one of the behavioral programs you have inherited. It automatically starts working whenever you are threatened by a certain danger.

Therefore, this machine represents the collection of automatic reactions you have inherited.

This machine has the shape of a cone because the cone is a triangle. This is a reference to the three psychological functions that are not working in your psyche.

You have four psychological functions: thoughts, feelings, sensations and intuition. However, only one of these psychological functions is working in your conscience and another one, is half-working.

If you are influenced by your anti-conscience, the half-developed psychological function stops working like the two functions that are not working at all in your conscience from birth.

You have to develop all your psychological functions during your life, and complete the psychotherapy of the divine unconscious mind, which transformed one of your primitive psychological functions into human psychological function. This was how it gave you a human conscience, besides transforming another psychological function into human content up to a certain point.

You have to develop your four psychological functions in order to be balanced. The unconscious mind helps you achieve this goal by giving you information and guidance in dreams.

Since this machine (which represents your cognitive mechanism) has the shape of a cone, this means that you have neurotic behavior because there is only one psychological function more developed in your psyche. The one that was half-developed stopped working.

This means that the three psychological functions that are not working in your conscience, are working in your anti-conscience. They have a primitive character.

Let's suppose that your mail psychological function is based on thoughts. This means that your feelings, your sensations and your intuition are in a primitive condition. They are childish, absurd, violent, and dangerous.

These three psychological functions are controlling your brain and psyche because you are still attached to the past. Your psyche still lives in the past (old house).

These primitive psychological functions are controlling your mind and behavior, even thought they are working outside your house because they don't belong to your human psyche. They belong to the part of your psyche that doesn't have human characteristics.

These three psychological functions are working like a machine, what means that they are following behavioral programs formed by the absurd reactions of your anti-conscience. These reactions are animal, violent, immoral, cruel, and indifferent.

'It is digging the ground.'

The big machine is digging the ground because it is revolving the past.

In other words, the absurd reactions caused by the behavioral programs you have inherited don't let you forget your sad past.

They keep revolving the past in order to generate anger and abnormal behavior. This is how your anti-conscience will manage to destroy your human conscience.

You have to stop thinking about the past with revolt in order to eliminate the neurotic behavior caused by your anti-conscience and find peace.

............................................................................................................

The continuation of this dream gave more explanations to the dreamer, helping her understand what to do, but I cannot publish the entire dream. I only showed you with this example how your brain works while it is influenced by your psychological functions and the automatic behavioral programs you have inherited into your cognitive mechanism.

You will tame your anti-conscience by showing wise behavior. The unconscious mind helps you achieve this goal, even if you are still far from sound mental health.

Thanks to your obedience to the unconscious guidance, you will always do what is positive and safe, even before becoming wise. Later, you will become truly wise because the unconscious mind transforms your personality. You won't need the unconscious guidance as much as you need it now that you are absurd.

When you'll attain a higher level of knowledge, you will also have an excellent memory. You'll be surprised with your own intelligence. You are a genius, but you are not using the biggest part of your brain on your behalf because it belongs to your wild side. When you'll manage to transform your wild conscience into a positive part of your conscience you will understand how intelligent you really are.

Can Humans Psychologically Handle Unlimited Lifetimes?

psychology studies

Many have pondered over the millennium the concept of living forever here on Earth, in other words not dying. Some say that death is good because it is the only way that mankind could progress. However when people die with knowledge, observations, and experiences they take all of that with them when they die, and unless they wrote it down we don't have it.

Therefore, we are doomed to repeat and learn it all over again, and even if they did write it down, the language changes, it's interpreted incorrectly, and we make the same mistakes again. What if we didn't have too? Okay so, let's talk about this for a little bit; specifically let's talk about the psychological challenges of unlimited life on the human psyche.

In fact, there was a very interesting article in the September-November 2005 issue of "What Is Enlightenment?" The article was an interview with Ray Kurzweil titled; "Chasing Immortality" on page 58 where the interviewer seemed to ask the question that although humans want to live forever and that they have a fear of dying or death, they are not really psychologically able to deal with immortality. To this, I disagree. Let me explain.

Ray Kurzweil said; "psychologically, we are not equipped to live 500 years so if we're talking about conquering disease and aging, and then just living as human beings in our current form for hundreds or thousands of years, that would lead to serious problems. I think we would develop a deep ennui, a sort of profound despair. We would get bored with the level of intelligence we have in the level of experience we have available to us."

Whereas, that may be so, it also seems that humans are put under a tremendous amount of stress with the reality that their lives may end, they are also disheartened when loved ones around them die, often too early. I'd say that is psychologically challenging, even more so than extended time periods of life, at least people could have the choice to check out if they wished. To suggest that humans could not psychologically handle an unlimited life is mere speculation, and whereas, some folks may not be able to handle it, others would probably have no problem with it - either way humans would adapt.

And, I am with Ray Kurzweil on this; just because there might be psychological challenges ahead for life extension, doesn't mean we shouldn't try. We spend an awful lot of time trying to cure diseases, ailments, and even cancer. We devote vast amounts of resources to extending human life in the short-term. But in the end everyone who has ever lived, has died, or at the present period of human technology; will die. But why I ask, if we have the technology, understanding, and are able to hack the human bio-system creating something which can last for 1000 years, then we should do it.

Lastly, for those who are of a religious context and believe that mankind was not meant to live forever, as he was only meant to be on Earth as a testing period, until which time he would seek eternal salvation with the Savior, then, obviously mankind seems to be able to deal with the concept of heaven and living the remainder of their life experience in there. Thus, a good many folks are already pre-prepared for unlimited life, even if such a story is currently a myth. Indeed I hope you will please consider that point as well, think of all this.

How to Find A Psychologist

psychology studies

Once in a while we are asked why we call our selves 'Private or Independently Practising Psychologists, therefore I thought I would spend some time to explain this for EzineArticle readers:

Similar to Doctors, you'll discover a variety of psychologists, some work with a government organisation just like the NHS along with other working individually (or both) but they need to feel the same rigorous training schedule to obtain the title of 'Chartered Clinical Psychologist'.

Chartered Clinical psychologists can cope with an in depth scope of concerns for example stress, anxiety, relationship problems, depression, learning disabilities, family problems and may also specialise in areas for example education, dyslexia etc. In addition to clinical psychologists, you'll discover educational psychologists, Neuropsychologists (who identify injuries associated with your brain), Occupational psychologists (the kind seen in Corporations frequently during the time of recruitment and redundancy), Forensic psychologists (who help with the court proceedings in the court, criminal behavior, etc.), Sport psychologists (although rarer, they use they and them psychologically focused), and finally Health psychologists (helping people to give up smoking, alcohol, drugs as well as altering the way in which people look at illness or their own health) these psychologists made a decision at the outset of their careers to think about a particular path/speciality.

Private psychologists can sometimes get more versatility inside their approach in comparison to public sector employed psychologists, it isn't that they're missing any qualifications, however their time is seriously restricted regularly to tight structural programs. However, When you're paying for a private psychologist you will probably be seen in your time scale and treated at your convenience inside your environment or school, home or workplace.

Sometimes you will find special cases that you want more sensitivity, clients that need more participation, and that level of involvement is some thing that you should be always hopefully experiencing from private psychologists. From time to time, one does not wish to be very straight forward or direct with just any clinical psychologist and so you can take things at a pace you are comfortable with by visiting a familiar private psychologist..

A HPC registered 'Chartered Psychologist' wouldn't risk supplying details about patients or breaking their trust as it can certainly have lots of implications on their own reliability as well as their status.

Now you know the different kinds of psychologists there are, let's move on to how to find a psychologist. Psychologists probably won't be difficult to find, however you need to be mindful of their level of qualification and ensure they have the correct indemnify insurances and HPC registration etc. You may research with The British Psychological Society as they have a whole listing of chartered psychologists and you can enter information like the kind of problem (broadly speaking of course) you have, plus your location and you will receive a list of names that you could go to. Also you can ask your family doctor to refer a psychologist to you, you can even ask your friends and family (there is no need to be shy about it, a lot of people visit the psychologist for one reason or the other). You can even ask the psychology department of your school or university and even your school or your child's school for the matter!

Most Chartered clinical Psychologists possess a broad spectrum of training, they can refer you to other professionals or they might specialise in your concerns. Yes - there are costs involved unlike GP referrals, however these costs are small when your well-being or your family's is under concern. Waiting 1-10 months to see somebody can sometimes be detrimental or unnecessary.

I really hope this informative article has helped you with your journey to Find a Psychologist.

Free Will, Brain Tumors, PTSD, and Human Behavior - Scary Stuff Indeed

psychology studies

Does the human brain really allow for complete free will? Not long ago, I read an interesting research paper by Patricia Churchland titled; "The Big Questions: Do we have free will?" In that paper, Dr. Churchland describes a case whereby an individual with a brain tumor was unable to control a certain type of behavior - once the brain tumor was taken out, that behavior went away, but later it came back again, and so did the behavior. That's pretty interesting isn't it? And it was well documented.

Indeed, I would submit to you as did Dr. Churchland in writing that piece that free will may not be all that it seems. Now then, let me ask another question, and pose a hypothetical, I'd like to give your brain a little bit of a workout here. Let's go ahead and use a recent event, a tragic one, it see if we can't work through this logically. Let me start by asking you a series of questions;

What if a soldier is exposed to too much depleted uranium tipped exploded ordinance on 3 tours in Iraq, then ends up with neurological challenges, brain cancer, tumor, and then his PTSD issues are exacerbated and next, he goes into an Afghan village on his fourth our, and kills locals? (yes, I realize there is more to the story, and the ethical behavioral history here, but bare with me for a moment).

Now then, what if a combination of tumor reducing anti-bodies (type undetermined, only suspected), which have little side effects [Please read; Life Science Leader article; "Single Antibody Shrinks Variety Of Human Tumors Transplanted Into Mice, Study Shows," published on March 29, 2012 by Krista Conger] and Increased Omega 3, plus solid sound sleep in a Faraday Cage - if we did all that could we prevent such events in the case of brain tumors? If so, what else might we be able to do?

What I'm asking is can we get past perhaps some of the challenges we are causing ourselves, defeat PTSD problems, and get back to what we might consider free will? Even if we can get back all the way, can we get close enough for us to perceive and believe that we have free will during our life experience. Can we get these PTSD soldiers back? Of course, this takes philosophy, neurology, psychology, biotech, and captures all the realities of nature versus nurture and throws it all into one soup.

Can we realign the letters in that alphabet soup so that we can read clearly, and know what we're dealing with in the future? Can we solve these pressing challenges, some which we have created, and some which bind us, entrap us, and torture our resolve - play with our sense of justice, morality, and integrity? As you know, my job is to provoke thought - your job is to do the heavy mental lifting here. "This is your mission if you 'choose' accept it," and that's all.
